[Chapter 66: The Nomad's Intent (Part 2-2)]

------------------------------

Yori used his hover bike to fly through the city in search of... something. Like before, he felt some sort of presence calling to him; the drums of battle. His departure was more than a little suspect, which is why Yoshimoto intended to make full use of the cloaking device that was installed on his upgraded hover bike, chasing after Yori on street level. Putra had brought it with him when he'd arrived, but hadn't mentioned this to Yori for a few good reasons.

Yori saw dozens of armors materialize and swirl around Gaim from a distance and decided to remain in the sky for now. He watched as the silver armored Gaim summoned various weapons to attack Gurinsha, with Baron and Maiden joining his side. Despite this team-up, he had to take any chance he could...

Gurinsha was about to be taken down by the three Riders when gun shots started to come from above. They looked around and saw Yori on his hover bike, shooting down at the Overlord. While it tried to block the attacks, Yori jumped off and transformed.

[VICTORY ARMS! ALL HAIL THE PRINCE - HIP-HIP-HUZZAAAH~!]

[VICTORY SQUASH!]

The shining blue armored formed and Haku came crashing down with a Rider Kick, setting off an explosion in his wake. Once the smoke cleared, a large broadsword came into view as Haku walked towards Gaim.

"Yori..." Maiden quaked. She hadn't seen him in this fearsome new form before.

"Not again..." Gaim muttered. "Look, whatever you're after, we don't have to-!"

Haku swung his broadsword down intending to strike Gaim. He blocked it with his own sword, the Musoh Saber and DJ Gun combination, while Baron looked to him in disgust.

"Black Rider... you've got some nerve...!"

Haku broke the stalemate and delivered a horizontal slash at Gaim to knock him back, then elbowed Baron as he tried to approach for an attack. Maiden dropped her broadsword, unable to register why he was doing this.

From afar, Rook and Ajami watched. Ajami was horrified once she saw the visage of the prince in Haku, as he he used his large sword to fight off the two male Riders.

"This... is the appointed savior of this world?" Ajami asked.

"He carries a great deal of strength on his shoulders, with the drive to create a peaceful world without the snake's influence." Rook explained.

As Haku knocked away Gaim's weapon, he started to pick up his sword for a vertical slash. Suddenly, Maiden slid into view, standing in front of Gaim with hands out.

"STOP!!" Maiden cried out. "Yori, whatever you're trying to accomplish, it isn't worth all this fighting!"

Haku stopped. He paused, but finally, with a defeated grunt, tossed his sword off to the side with a powerful clang - he felt as though he'd lost. Baron loosened up as he stood up, but didn't trust the Rider enough to go unprepared. Maiden continued to stand firm, with Gaim rising up behind her, curious and afraid.

"His resolve, however..." Rook said. He held out a hand towards Haku. "... requires a push."

The green leaf on Haku's crowd started to glow briefly. As the glow traveled down his body, he felt intense pain, falling to his knees. He clenched his shoulder as he felt something creeping into view... vines started to materialize, growing from various parts of the armor.

"Y-Yori!!" Maiden started to run towards him, "What's happened to you?!"

The vines started to change color. An alien purple hue crept on the edges of the earthly green, as though consuming. Haku's visor glowed bright and a small wave of energy left his body. He threw Maiden off to the side, and started to stand...

[MELON DEFENDER!]

Haku rushed at Gaim with a fist ready. Gaim summoned a shield to block the hit, but Haku silently persisted, seeming to be intent on punching until the shield gave way. He pushed Gaim into a corner, with Maiden watching in horror and Baron preparing an attack.

Baron slashed towards Haku, unleashing a banana based wave of energy. Pushed back, Haku's body flailed back into a readied stance like a puppet. His visor gleamed once more. He rolled to his sword while dodging another attack, then put a Lockseed into its base. Hologram spikes began to line the blade of the sword as he did so, and medieval music played from the sword.

[BLACKBERRY CHARGE!]

A wave of dark blue energy followed the blade as it struck Baron and knocked him aside, then he started to hold the blade up to strike down Gaim.

[POP - BLUEBERRY ENERGY STRIKE!]

Haku was knocked aside. Maiden stood there in her Blueberry Duster form, her gun sizzling from the finisher she'd unleashed. She panted lightly in horror at the fact she had to do it. Haku slid on the ground and was as shocked at she was at the sight. The vines started to fade from his armor now, and he began to get up and run away.

"I see..." A voice spoke up.

Gaim, Baron and Maiden looked to the top of a wall in the area. The green hag Overlord, Redue, was walking around the wall with her staff, observing the group.

"So, this is the power you apes have mastered which eventually brought Demushu to his knees..." Redue said, looking at Gaim. "We require live fuel - I'd appreciate you not interfering..."

Redue leapt and landed in front of them, landing with a powerful thud. Rook and Ajami slipped away into darkness at her presence, preferring that she doesn't interfere with their plans in return...

"That's why your kidnapping people?" Baron accused.

"My sister is nothing but fuel to you?!" Gaim picked up his sword, holding it threateningly.

"Is that so unforgivable?" Redue asked coldly. "After all, your own race was prepared to sacrifice six billion of its own..."

Redue started to walk out into the open. The three Riders chased after her, but were stopped once she slowed her pace and turned to them.

"Am I really your biggest concern at the moment?" Redue asked teasingly. "Consider this fact; As I've declared war on your people, there is only one course of action they can take..."

"What are you getting at?!" Gaim barked at her.

Baron looked solemn just then. He nearly dropped his bow. "They'll willingly destroy Zawame with you here. All they have to do is send missiles, and..."

Redue began cackling at their dilemma. The three had no idea what to do now - they were burning with a passion to fight just moments ago, but now they carried with them a great fear.

"Aren't humans just wonderful?!" Redue asked happily. "They would go out of their way to kill off their own kind for the sake of achieving their goals - and you call us monsters."

"There's no way!" Gaim looked to Maiden and Baron, "There's still so many people trapped in the city!"

"Have you already forgotten what Yggdrasill had planned?" Baron asked him coldly.

"Your whole world has turned its back on you..." Redue told them, pointing to the sky. "And their retaliation has arrived."

Yori had stumbled through a street, making his way to a corner where he'd be out of sight. He clutched at his shoulder in pain from the attack Maiden inflicted on him and wondered why he didn't care about her being there this time. He preferred to deal with Gaim alone, not like this. However, he noticed something that took his mind away from the fight; In the sky, multiple fiery lights could be seen coming towards the city.

"Worry not." Rook spoke up, standing on a nearby balcony.

"Rook." Yori looked to him. "What the hell is going on?"

"The United States is attempting to destroy Helheim." Rook told him. "However... they underestimate the king of the Overlords."

The missiles started to come into view. Gaim, Baron and Maiden looked around in horror and confusion as missiles were frozen in midair, just a mere split second away from hitting the ground.

"What... what happened?" Gaim asked.

"Behold - the might of our king!!" Redue proclaimed.

A shockwave of bright energy erupted from the top of Yggdrasill Tower. One by one, the missiles began to disappear. It wouldn't be until later that they realized what this meant, but for now, Zawame City was spared...

"The fruit of knowledge is a frightening thing." Rook said, staring down at Yori. "Its user may decide the fate of an entire reality in a single swoop. Such a power musn't enter the wrong hands by any means."

Yori stood up. He looked up to Rook, deciding to be direct with him.

"The fruit of knowledge is going to that Kazuraba kid at this rate. I have to stop him - someone like that is too immature for this kind of responsibility."

"Are you suggesting that you are more worthy?" Rook asked.

Yori gave a single nod. "I know exactly what kind of world I want... and no one's keeping it from me."

Yoshimoto flew away on his hover bike before Yori could spot him. He was high in the air, binoculars dangling from his neck. He knew that Yori must have not told him all of his experience outside of Yggdrasill - he had no idea Rook was involved... Now he had reason to see Yori was a threat to the mission.

Next time, Zangetsu-Shin is...!
With part 2 of this return to form, the true intentions of Haku's new form become more apparent and the road he's destined for becomes clearer. It's admittedly a fast chapter, but hopefully worth the wait.
