[Chapter 65: The Nomad's Intent (Part 1-2)]

------------------------------

Redue's announcement resonated within everyone. That sick cackle was enough to send chills down the spines of anyone incapable of fighting. Kota, Kaito, Jiro and Rei quietly observed it inside of Drupers, even when the transmission had turned to static. They simply wondered... what could they do now?

"Is anyone here?!" A woman cried out as she burst into Drupers. "We need help!"

"Sis?" Kota looked to her in surprise.

"Kota!" His sister Akira responded, "There's some survivors that need help!"

Rei rose her head to look over.

Jiro looked to her, "What are you thinking?"

"Kaito and I will take care of this." Kota assured Akira.

"Right." Kaito followed Kota as he left out.

Akira looked to Jiro and Rei, "Aren't you Riders too?"

"Well..." Jiro trailed off.

Rei thought about that question, but not with the time she would like to have to think - she stood up and bolted out of Drupers, following after Kota and Kaito.

. . .

Rook walked down one of the empty streets with Ajami. Having her nearby was beneficial, as none of the Inves would attack him with her there. They approached a fruit stand and Rook picked up an apple, which was starting to go bad.

"So we share similar bloodshed, you and I." Ajami remarked.

"I intend to do what hasn't been done before." Rook told her. "This will be the final resting place for that snake - There are a few roles that must be filled to make that happen, however..."

"Where do I fit into all of this?" Ajami asked.

Rook stared at the rotting apple. He tossed it into the air, allowing it to fall to the ground beside them with a splat.

"I require someone to ensure that the fruit of knowledge does not fall into the hands of someone who does not fit into my plan. It may require you to take action..."

Ajami stopped with a light gasp. He was asking her for a suicide mission, surely. Rook stopped as well, turning to look at her. His face grew cold and stern as he did so.

"In the name of both our races... we must both take risks."

"You were aware of how close I was to Roshuo Lord and wished to take advantage of it." Ajami said coldly. "Is that right? Because I shared with you my relationship with..."

"You misunderstand," Rook approached her, "You and I have mutual feelings towards that snake and the damage it brought to our respective worlds, spouting lies of evolution..." He rose a finger, pointing to her. "Your position, though convenient, would be nothing without that single, powerful emotion we both share; Revenge."

Ajami clenched her fists and stared at him, taking in his words. She could only hope she was not being deceived by another snake - this time, however, she had nothing left to lose...

Ajami pushed his gesturing hand aside and proceeded to walk down to the street. "You spoke of the one intended to save both our worlds. Just who is this ruler you put so much faith in?" Ajami asked him.

"I will show you his fighting spirit and his strive for change." Rook told her, starting to walk once more.

. . .

Putra ran towards Yggdrasill Tower, with Ban, Zack and Jonouchi following after him.

"That damned beast must be stopped at all costs!!" Putra proclaimed to them.

"I hear ya, but you can't rush into this alone!" Zack called out to him. "I want in, too!"

"Guys, over there!" Ban looked over to a spot they were approaching.

Ban stumbled as he tried to stop, only to fall onto Zack, with Jonouchi falling onto him. Putra skidded to a stop and looked toward a stairway of a building, where numerous people were being dragged out by force.

"What, they're kidnapping people now...?" Jonouchi stood up with the others.

"Less talk, more action!" Zack rushed in.

[KURUMI!]

[♪♪♪ - KURUMI ARMS! MR... KNUCKLEMAN!]

Knuckle bashed at an Inves with his gauntlets and helped a man up from the ground. The others followed.

[♪♪♪ - PAPAYA ARMS! MR... SLAMMER!]

Bravo came dropping down with his club, smacking down a Lion Inves that dropped the civilian it was carrying on its back.

[C'MON - DONGURI ARMS! NEVER GIVE UP!]

Bravo smacked some Inves away to protect a couple, then rushing them out with the others that were being set free. Inves began to crowd around Putra as he looked around intently. He held his Lockseed out in front of him, then jumped into the air once he placed it into his Driver.

[SOIYA - SALAK ARMS! CALLING UPON THE MIGHTY SERPENT KING!]

Flipping back and out of the circle of Inves, the fully formed Sultan whipped out his Musoh Saber, pulling the tab on it and unleashing a string of bullets with one swing. Once they were down, he summoned the salak themed pole and combined it with his Saber, forming his spear, and rushed into battle ready to strike.

"Ah geez, more of 'em!" Bravo realized as he looked at the approaching horde.

"Gridon!" Knuckle called out, holding a Lockseed in his gauntlet. "Kaito lent me this, think you can give it a shot?"

Gridon caught the Lockseed. As an Inves Gamer, he'd never seen this one, but he shrugged it off.

"Sure thing!" Gridon unlocked it.

[SUIKA!]

Sultan knocked away some of the Inves in his way and turned when he heard the name being called out.

[C'MON - SUIKA ARMS! BIG BALL EQUALS BIG BANG!]

Gridon panicked when he saw a huge armor materialize above him, larger than he'd ever seen. When it dropped down, his head popped up at the top, dazed. But he did not leave the ball mode.

Sultan ran over to him, "Have you any idea how this armor even works?"

"Not at all...!" Gridon whined and shook his head. "Help me!"

Sultan's pole dematerialized and he put his saber away, then flicking out another Lockseed. "It cannot be helped, then." Placing it into his Driver, he switched to another form.

[SOIYA - COCONUT ARMS! THE HARDENED WARRIOR!]

Gridon looked up as a large coconut-themed mech rose up, looming over him. He brought his head back into the armor once its arms grabbed the watermelon ball he was in. Sultan tossed the ball into the air, then jumped up and kicked it down. Bouncing off of a group of Inves that it'd squashed, it started to bounce along the street, destroying all of the Inves crowding around.

Bravo took notice to one of the people rushing out of the building now that Inves were starting to get wiped out. Sonomura stumbled out, looking in surprise as he saw all of the Riders in action.

"Sono!" Bravo ran over to him. "You need to get out of her, man!"

"Ban," Sonomura looked at him. "The hell you doing with that--"

"I'm doing what I should've done sooner!" Bravo told him. He put his hands on Sonomura's shoulders. "Sono, we've been playing for the wrong team. These guys're making a difference right now and keeping everyone safe - I want to help out too... and protect the city I love. You love this place too, you know it."

Sonomura stared at him intently at that mention. No one knew Red Hot's initial dream better than a close friend like him.

"Oy, Ban, what're you doing?!" Knuckle called out as he smacked some Inves away from them.

Bravo looked over, concerned at the others' well being, though Sultan seemed to be clearing away Inves well enough.

"You know, when they find out who I am, I'm gonna be locked up for a while." Sonomura spoke up solemnly.

Bravo looked back to him. "I'll be waiting for you on the other side. It's better you have a shelter and food there than to be scrounging around out here."

"What I miss?" Rommo asked Sonomura as he rushed out of the building, having fought off some Inves.

Sonomura slowly pushed away one of Bravo's hands, then the other. "Just... don't do something stupid and waste that belt. It's pretty valuable." He turned to Rommo and motioned him. "Come on, let's get out of here - Leave the work to the people who know what they're doing."

Sonomura flashed a quick smirk to Bravo before heading out, looking for the other fleeing civilians so they can find shelter. Bravo turned his attention back to the other Riders now so that he could continue helping out.

. . .

Kota, Kaito, Rei and Akira arrived to where Akira had been staying. Inves started to leave the building with the children and families they were kidnapping. Kota and Kaito started to arm themselves, so Rei stood strong.

"You guys aren't alone in this," Rei brought out her Lockseed, "If I have the ability to stop anyone else from losing their families, I need to... transform!"

[ORANGE ARMS! TAKE THAT SPOTLIGHT ON STAGE!]
[LEMON ENERGY ARMS. FIGHT, POWER! FIGHT, POWER! FI-FI-FI-FI-F-F-F-FIGHT!]
[HASHIBAMI ARMS! YOU CAN DO IT!]

Gaim, Baron and Maiden rushed into battle ready to attack. As they took notice to the enemies they'd be facing, one stood out as a white cattle Inves with a sword, baring features similar to the Overlords. Baron held it back to allow a mother and daughter run by, then it headbutted him and took center stage.

"You dare intrude on the mistress' plans?!" The white Overlord spoke up.

"Another one of those Overlords!" Gaim exclaimed as he held back one of the basic Inves.

"If you think we'll let these people get hurt, you're sorely mistaken!" Maiden proclaimed, attempting to strike him down with her broadsword.

The Overlord flailed its upper body at Maiden like a blunt object, smacking her against a wall, then pinning her neck to it. "You're not match for the mighty Gurinsha!"

Baron jumped in, slashing at Gurinsha to knock him away. Between him and Maiden, this Overlord would soon be outmatched, especially once Gaim stepped in with his own power. Gaim unlocked his Kiwami Lockseed to get straight to the point.

[FRUIT BASKET!]

------------------------------

Next time, just what is Haku thinking...?!
If you missed my Scraps post about it, I made new title images! In a burst of energy, they've all been updated.

But yes, after a bit of a slump, here's a return to form with more of the Forbidden Fruit Saga. This was originally one big chapter but it ended up being TOO big, so I split it up, hopefully in a well paced way.

Also Rook is explained somewhat. Surprise. Apart from that, this also includes Sonomura's last (planned) inclusion in the regular chapters. I'd been wanting to include mention of this for a while, and I guess now's as good a time as any in all the madness.

Expect part 2 of this whenever. Gotta build up a backlog now that I'm so close to the end.

Quick question, why does Yori hate Kota now? Or rather, why is he so averse to him obtaining the Fruit of Knowledge?
