第14章:不良少年の組?!それはブースト! / Chapter 14: Bad Boy Duo?! It's Boost!
------------------------------

That afternoon, the South Stage was taken by Raid Wild and Tru Heart. Only Hase and two of his others were available today, so they made this a collaboration of sorts. Tru Heart's traditional breakdance style was given a Rockabilly flare and some more wild forward flips were added to their usual routine. Jiro took the front with outlaw steps and spins, which Hase joined him in with some salsa steps to pay tribute.

Doki provided a fast paced shuffle since he was feeling particularly energized that day. It may have been the music that contributed to that. Rei joined the Raid Wild boys in part of their usual Rockabilly flare, and was flipped over by one of the boys, then picked up and flipped by the next, before landing safely and joining Doki. With her and him on the opposite said of the two boys in black, and the leaders up front, it was a nicely organized group effort.

By the end, Hase and Jiro stood backs pressed against each other catching a quick breath while the song came to a close. The crowd let out a roaring cheer for both teams and they said their farewells. It seemed to be the right time of the day for...

"Man, I'm starving!" The larger member of Raid Wild spoke up.

"Chapo's always hungry." The scrawnier one of the trio assured Tru Heart.

"Quit, Kuchi." Chapo gave him a look. He turned his attention to Hase now, "How 'bout we head over to Sakurai's? All you can eat, my treat."

"Sounds good to me." Hase agreed.

"Well, if you're paying..." Kuchi agreed as well.

"Think I can tag along? I'm starving. Plus I can give you guys a ride." Jiro offered.

"I'm not hungry." Doki said with utmost confidence, "I wanna get in some Inves Game action!"

"I'd actually like to go to Drupers, if that's okay. It sounds like a nice place." Rei answered.

"Well, why don't we meet up later, then?" Jiro suggested. "Just call me if you need me."

"Will do!" Rei waved him on his way.

Jiro welcomed the others to hop into his RV and the four drove off, leaving Rei and Doki to spend their afternoon together. After a moment of silence, Doki started to walk off.

"Well, have fun!" He said to Rei.

"Hold on a second," Rei pulled him back by the scruff of his hoodie. "It's not everyday you and I get to hang out without Jiro. Why don't we go to Drupers together?"

"Uh--Together...?"

"You like running off on your own a lot when we're not dancing. Let's do something different for a change, okay?"

"Alright..." Doki tagged along as Rei led the way. He admittedly didn't realize this fact.

"Besides, it's a pretty popular hangout for Beat Riders at the West Stage. You'll probably find a challenge there if we stay for a while."

. . .

At the Yggdrasill Corporation, Yori toweled himself off in a restroom after a rough battle in the forest. He looked in the mirror, fixing his hair, then putting his glasses back on. He sighed a bit in relief knowing his Unit was done for the day while the Shinra Unit took over. He adjusted his suit jacket and left the restroom with a folder in hand. Not long after walking down the hall, he came across a familiar face around the corner.

"Hey there, Mr. Kazama."

The famous DJ Sagara gave him a greeting nod and smile. He wasn't there in person, however - DJ Sagara seldom left his booth when there was so much to do for the Beat Riders Hotline. But when he was feeling sociable, he used a hologram projector to 'walk' around the building. It was as close to stretching his legs as he could, some days.

"Sagara." Yori nodded back. Sagara followed him as he walked down the hall to his destination.

"I hear you're back to the battlefield. That's good." Sagara said. "Anything to lighten the load for our men."

"I'm back in full force." Yori proudly proclaimed.

"I was a bit worried about you, considering."

"Considering?"

"Well, I suppose everyone reacted to the visions in their own ways." Sagara tried to play it off. "Kureshima seemed to dismiss them immediately. But Yoshimoto, that guy..."

"You mean..." Yori dared ask.

"That's not important." Takatora answered. Yori had arrived to an elevator and who would be waiting there but Takatora. "Sagara, I'd thank you not to gossip about the Unit leaders. You have work to do."

Sagara smiled and gave a little shrug, "Whatever you say." The hologram then faded away in a sea of blue pixels, not unlike that of an Inves.

"Hey - Going to--" Yori started.

"Professor Ryoma." Takatora finished.

"Ah, me too. Project data."

The elevator opened and they soon entered, riding it upwards to their destination.

. . .

"Welcome!"

Rei and Doki were greeted by the female employee at her desk and had a look around - it seemed like a nice enough place. The two were soon greeted by the man in charge, a nice, somewhat rugged man with a warm smile.

"Hey there - Call me Mr. Bando. What can I get for you?"

Rei thought for a second. "A fruit parfait for me would be nice, and... Doki?"

"Some dessert with pineapple." He said simply.

"I've got something new I think you'll enjoy." Bando assured, "Coming right up."

The two took a seat at the table nearest to Bando. It was a circular design with a fruit display in the middle. There was a bright and colorful atmosphere to the place thanks to the fruit motif, which made it clear why this was a popular hangout for Beat Riders.

"So Doki, I've been meaning to ask," Rei started, "You're still young enough to be in high school, aren't you?"

"I'm not THAT young." Doki defended himself. "But, yeah... My family moved here not too long ago, so I'm out of school until I get accepted."

"That's convenient. Guess we should make full use of it." Rei said encouragingly.

"New here, huh?" Bando spoke up from his work. "I love what Yggdrasill has done to the city. You're gonna love it here too, I bet."

Bando arrived with their orders. The parfait stood tall and proud, and for Doki, there was a slice of pineapple themed cake with plenty of frosting to decorate it.

"You serve cake here?" Doki asked.

"It's called pineapple upside-down cake." Bando explained, "Except, in place of the cake, there's a slice of melon! Nice, huh? With the cherry on top, it gives you a mixture of fruits. It was a little idea that crossed my mind this morning."

"Clever." Rei complimented. "Thank you, Mr. Bando."

"Thanks!" Doki added.

"No problem." Bando accepted. "By the way, you're new faces. What's your story?"

"We're Beat Riders from the South Stage." Rei explained. "Team Tru Heart to be exact."

"We're really good." Doki added.

"Ah, guessed as much," Bando observed their matching purple colors. "Well, all I ask is you keep those matches out of Drupers. Welcome!" Bando ended their conversation in order to greet more customers.

Rei took a happy bite of her parfait and a thought crossed her mind from before. She looked to Doki. "So, if you're on holiday break, what happens once that's over?"

"After Christmas? Well..." Doki wondered.

"Well, if it ain't the losers from Tru Heart!"

Doki and Rei turned around to see two boys - one in a black, pink and lime jacket, brushed back hair and goatee. The other notably wearing a turquoise shirt with grey and purple jacket and sporting a shaved head. The two were immediately recognizable from their last encounter.

"Team Boost." Doki gave them a glare.
Right away I must say it, YEAH this is a two-parter somehow. I ended up writing it a bit lengthier than before so I decided I might as well split it up. I'll try to be quick about posting part 2.

This takes place within episode 4-5 territory, the day that Mitchy became Ryugen. It's also the same day the last chapter took place on.

There were no Lockseeds in this one, so I used a reference to fruit to make this one. I would also say there's finally a reference to older Rider stuff again, but this one was more or less just me pulling in a random name.

Oh right, I finally describe Tru Heart's dance style! Nothing surprising, they do standard stuff, their whole point is to have some energy put into it, lot of heart. I used actual terms for this so if you wanna look those up like I did, go ahead. :V

Also, Boost! They were at the big dance event in that recent episode. And yet none of the ones there looked like this version of Boost. I have an explanation for that in the second half.
